Christmas 2010 part 2

Okay, all pumpkin pied up and nibbling on a candy cane, therefore, can blog a little bit more on our Christmas experience this year.
In the middle of December, Ian had his school party, I was able to volunteer for that too, but sadly I didn't bring my camera.  As it turned out, I ended up staying the entire time, Megan was with me for the whole thing too. She was so good and quiet.  It didn't really surprise me, she knows how going to Ian's school is a big deal.  His party was fun, they made a hand-print wreath, chocolate covered pretzels and had a snack.  They had tons of goodies to bring home, gifts from his teacher, and gifts for parents.
That following weekend, we took to the kids to see the Wonderlights in the Wildlife experience....to see Santa.  That day actually ended up being a super long fun day...we started the day off by going to see "Tangled." We all enjoyed that one.  Then we headed to the Wildlife Experience. It wasn't too cold out, thank heaven, but after 45 min wait to see Santa, and having an empty tummy, and no nap....someone didn't want to actually sit on Santa's lap. grrrrrrrrrrrr
Megan happy and excited to see Santa, too bad it didn't last

YAY Santa time

After 20 minutes of waiting in line

aw come on folks, can't we ALL smile?!?

a hug for the big guy...too bad sissy couldn't, she did stand off to the side and made sure he knew she wanted a pillow pet, a yoda and a jesse doll

Next post...Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Christmas 2010

I can hardly believe Christmas is here and soon to be a distant memory.  It has been nice this year, I was able to get all the shopping, sending out and getting ready, early this year.  If I hadn't done the majority of the shopping early I'm sure it would have been a struggle and miserable.  I came down with a terrible sinus and ear infection, beginning of December. Both kids have been suffering from a similar illnesses too. But I think we are finally getting better.

We had tons of fun this past month, I'll try to highlight it all, the best I can.
The first part of December Ian had a school performance, the kindergarten class sang during the school's festival. Ian did pretty well, there were about 6 songs they sang, there were a few a wouldn't be able to remember all the words or hand motions, but they did a fantastic job!

just waiting around until the big show

Ian LOVED singing the Dreidal song, who would have known?

Rudolph the red nose reindeer!!!!

After Ian's school performance we headed out to get our tree, Daddy wanted to go right after Thanksgiving, but with everyone sick, I decided to postpone, since I doubt anyone would have enjoyed it.

Is this the one???

All decorated...via the kids, that's why most of them are at their level

Ziggy found himself a nice place to spend Christmas
Some time around Thanksgiving, we found a kit to do gingerbread houses...a while village. one of those good ideas/bad ideas.  Who knew they were so tiny, we just wanted everyone to be able to decorate their own.  It was highly stressful for myself, I had to try to get them together, and most of them were odd shaped, non-traditional houses.  Next year, I doubt we'll do that again!  The kids were anxious to do it since we got them.  They had fun...and asked a zillion times for licks of frosting and nibbles of candy.

We'll save the rest of the holiday festivities for another post...need some pie!

Thanksgiving party

Today was Ian's school party to celebrate Thanksgiving.  They sang songs about turkeys, showed us all the thanksgiving day projects they had been working on, and had some delicious treats to share.  Megan enjoyed herself, but she always likes going to see the classroom, the other children and Mrs Hausmann.

Hi mommy(thinking, wow you came AND you are sitting in my chair)

Let's all wave to the paparazzi

thinking, thinking, thinking

"why not serve a chicken pot pie?"

Turkeys run, run, run

If your thankful and you know stomp your feet

Happy Anniversary

9 years ago today, Paul and I, surrounded by a few family members and some close friends, said, "I, do."  9 years ago, we didn't know what the future was going to hold, we just knew that we wanted to hold each other for the rest of our lives.
It wasn't a spectacular wedding by far, I didn't have the fluffy white wedding gown, I didn't have my dad walk me down the aisle, we didn't have a huge reception filled with music, food, and 100s of our nearest and dearest, we didn't have a first dance, or a dance with my dad...we had a quickly arranged church wedding, I wore a blue dress that I wore to my graduation, I had 3 beautiful red roses with blue irises. We had a dinner with all that came to the wedding, even a small wedding cake, we had one night at a Pismo Beach hotel for a honeymoon.  Most importantly we had each other...in the end, that's all you really need.  For a while,it seemed we spent more years apart on our anniversaries than together, but I think we are finally going in the positive direction, and that is a good feeling.
Babe-I love you more!  thanks for staying by my side through the good and the bad.
Happy 9th Anniversary

9 yrs ago today, we said "I do"

Our wedding dinner at "Steamers" in Pismo Beach

After 5 years of marriage we finally got to have a "wedding"

So happy

Sorry I don't have a gift for you this year, but I wanted to tell you that I love you just the same.

Halloween weekend

I'm telling you, I'm not too sure I enjoy having Halloween fall on Sunday or not.  It was one busy weekend, starting with Friday, after Ian's party we did tons of running around...Costco, Homedepot, taking Ziggy to the vets for his vaccinations...we were invited to a party at a co-worker of Paul's but we managed to stay an hour due to kiddos nearly falling asleep at this guys house.
Saturday we had a smallish project to finish in the yard and then Paul was off to get a haircut. While he and Ian were gone, Megan and I made some cupcakes (I felt badly they didn't have any at Ian's party).  When they got back we carved pumpkins, this year Ian was able to carve his own, he didn't care too much for getting the guts out, but did a great job too.
Later that night we were invited to our neighbors for a Halloween party...it was a blast.  And I even made it through her haunted house I helped with.
Sunday night we trick or treated with the neighborhood kids...I think that really got the kids into the spirit of Halloween...except for some of those scary houses, Megan refused to go up to those doors.
