Summer 2010 Recap part 2

Moving right along...we arrived home after a really nice trip across part of our country, man, those "plain states" are really plain.  It was a nice trip, eating a picnic lunch at rest stops really saved us money and the kids enjoyed it so much, the food got to them quickly and they were able to run around.
We weren't the only ones who were happy with us being back home....Ziggy, our kitty was over joyed for us to be home too.  He was well taken care of too, but he let us know how much in trouble we were for being gone for that long.
Before we left we had consulted with and hired a contractor to build a pergola in our backyard...since our back yard 1. has no shade trees and 2. has no covering over the patio. we needed something to help endure these hot summers in Colorado.  After a few hitches on getting started the whole building process took two days.  Staining, was a whole different story, that was done by us. (i'll get to that later)
That brings us to the end of July...next up August.
Can't send my kiddo off to school without knowing their last name

Watermelon-a summer staple, and a fun medium to work with

Everyone loves watermelon, right?

She does

It had eyes mom

Ziggy playing with a string..totally kitten of him

A sunflower that volunteered to grow on his own

sunflowers and American flags....totally screams Summer

a bumblebee, working his magic

after day one of construction of the pergola

Finished product...almost, needs staining

After a summer storm...God is good
